چکیده

Objective: Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a lifesaving measure for patients in cardiac or respiratory failure. cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) emergent ECMO cannulation during arrest. All are at high risk neurologic complications, but the degree of ECPR relative to without CPR progress (non-ECPR ECMO) not well documented infants. The goal present study compare complication rates between infants who underwent and those non-ECPR ECMO. Methods: We performed retrospective chart review on all admitted 2009 2020 neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) our quaternary children's hospital. separated by vs. cannulation. compared death used neuroimaging video electroencephalogram (vEEG) determine incidence stroke, intracranial hemorrhage, seizure. Chi-square Fisher's exact tests were these categorical variables among groups. Results: A total 181 cannulated onto Of these, 40 received ECPR, 56 indication, 85 indication. After excluding currently (n=1, ECPR), 180 subjected analysis. less likely survive hospital discharge than indications, any with indications. Interpretation: Significantly fewer survived experiencing complication, patients.

Predictors of neurologic outcome after successful extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Background: Extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) refers to use of the extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in cardiopulmonary arrest. Although ECPR can increase survival rate of cardiac arrest, it may also result in poor post-resuscitation neurologic status. Thus, we investigated predictors of good neurologic outcome after successful ECPR. Methods: A total of 227 patients u...

Comparison of Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation with Conventional Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation: Is Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Beneficial?

BACKGROUND With improvements in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques, the quality and the effectiveness of CPR have been established; nevertheless, the survival rate after cardiac arrest still remains poor. Recently, many reports have shown good outcomes in cases where extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) was used during prolonged CPR. Accordingly, we attempted to evaluate the i...

Complications of cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Aim. In 1960, Kouwenhoven observed that forceful chest compressions can produce arterial pulses. At following years cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) continually advanced. Right now experts at the International Guidelines 2000 Conference strongly recommended development of inschool CPR programs as a primary educational strategy to ensure wide-spread learning of CPR. Rib and sternum fractures ...

Outcomes among neonates, infants, and children after extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation for refractory inhospital pediatric cardiac arrest: a report from the National Registry of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.

OBJECTIVES Describe the use of extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation as rescue therapy in pediatric patients who experience cardiopulmonary arrest refractory to conventional resuscitation. We report on outcomes and factors associated with survival in children treated with extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation during cardiopulmonary arrest from the American Heart Association Nation...

Results of Extracorporeal Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in Children

BACKGROUND Survival of children experiencing cardiac arrest refractory to conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is very poor. We sought to examine current era outcomes of extracorporeal CPR (ECPR) support for refractory arrest. METHODS Patients who were <18 years and underwent ECPR between November 2013 and January 2016 were including in this study. We retrospectively investigated ...
